Hello! I am Allison Chitwood, the founder of Soul Focus, and this is my story.

Soul Focus began in 2014 in Carmi, IL when I was only sixteen years old. In its early years, it was known as "Allison Chitwood Media", but I later changed it so that others would know my mission statement just by reading the name: Soul Focus. I had always loved the art of creating, but it wasn't until then that I decided to take it seriously. I owned my first camera at the age of 10 and since then my passion for photography has only grown. I felt a strong calling to use my abilities for a deeper purpose, and there, Soul Focus was born. What began as a young love, turned into a full time job.
I took my love for people and intertwined it with my love for photography. However, I did not want to be just any photographer who took your picture and went along to the next. No, I seek to be as intentional and real as I can. The moments I capture can never be redone, nor should they. Each photo captures such intimate, real moments. I try to tell the true, genuine story through my photographs. I probably say this too much, but I wholeheartedly love my job. I have the opportunity to capture such soul moments: the first time the groom sees his bride, the first breath taken by the baby, the fun season of being engaged, senior year, first birthdays, the grand opening of a business.... the list goes on and on. It still amazes me that I get to experience these events firsthand.
